Aspen’s vision has been to establish and invest in world-class manufacturing facilities capable of serving the needs of patients across the globe, and also to provide specialist, niche products to international markets. Aspen has 26 manufacturing facilities at 18 sites on 6 continents.
Continued investment in people, equipment and infrastructure, coupled with continuous improvement projects and a strong management team, ensures that the South African manufacturing facilities are well positioned to supply high quality, affordable, effective products to the domestic market and selected international markets.
Aspen is acknowledged as the pharmaceutical manufacturing powerhouse on the African continent and it is renowned for its unwavering standards. The Group’s extensive basket of products provides treatment for a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions experienced throughout all stages of life.
Aspen’s flagship manufacturing site is based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and this site, in addition to a second sites in East London, produce a high volume of tablets and capsules as well as liquids, semi-solids, eye drops, liquid and lyophilised vials, high potency sterile injectables (including hormonal). Infant milk formulations and UHT infant milk liquids as well as a portfolio of active pharmaceutical ingredients are manufactured at specialist sites in Johannesburg and Cape Town respectively.
Securing registrations from the world’s leading regulatory authorities remain an imperative for the Group. Consequently, certain Aspen manufacturing facilities in South Africa have obtained accreditation from the:
